Christine Terrell has been transforming decorative tins into art jewelry for nearly two decades. Her BFA in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York set her on the path of corporate design work for a variety of Fortune 500 companies. After a decade of that work in NYC & Austin, it was time for something else.
She found tins through a series of fortuitous events and the material has proven to be endlessly fascinating. Repurposing something most people consider to be trash is a deeply meaningful part of the process for Christine. Though it would be easy to let the beautiful found imagery define the work, it’s her design training that predominantly informs the adaptive reuse collection. Constantly pushing the limits of material manipulation inspires a playful, ever-changing progression of work.
Beyond metalworking, she also enjoys making collages, gelli printing, collecting and sharing Good Things and beginning each day by swimming the headwaters of the gorgeous river in San Marcos, TX where she lives with her husband and two mostly grown boys.
