Kathryn Welch
Kathryn Welch has been designing and creating stained glass artwork since 2006. Specializing in custom residential and commercial pieces, she also repairs and restores stained glass and teaches classes on all levels. When she is not creating custom work for clients, she creates one-of-a-kind, creatively inspired windows and mosaic sculptures for art galleries and markets in Central Texas and Colorado. Her work is known for its creative, outside-the-box design aspects, and often incorporates objects such as agates, rondels, gems, wire work, and overlays.
For more than 10 years Kathryn has taught stained glass classes in her home studio, River City Glassworks. The classes became so popular that in 2018 she and her husband built a dedicated teaching studio on their property. This studio made it possible to offer an even wider variety of classes in all skill levels, and River City Glassworks have built their curriculum to cover all skill levels and techniques. Hundreds of students have come through their doors, with the majority of them falling in love with the artform and returning for more classes, to buy tools and glass, and to trade tricks of the trade. A real community has sprung up at River City Glassworks, where all are welcome to create.
