Rebecca Stephens

Rebecca Stephens is a global mobility executive (she moves people for money), a glass blower, a jewelry designer and welder. Rebecca grew up in Odessa, TX, has an undergrad in Graphic Design from Abilene Christian University and a Masters Conflict Resolution (aka Jedi Mind Tricks) from St. Edwards University in Austin. Rebecca built and started her glass blowing studio, RC Hot Glass, in East Austin in 2008 and was lucky enough to study at Haystack Mountain School of Arts and Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine, with Michael Schunke of Nine Iron Studios and Susanne Joker Johnsen of Kosta Boda. In 2010 Rebecca finalized the sale of the hot shop to Morgan Graff-Bogart and continues to rent space and blow glass in the shop. Rebecca started down the jewelry path by taking a PMC (precious metal clay) class at Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin in 2011. Within a couple of months she had a small kiln in her garage and had taught her first PMC class. Her work has been published in Metal Clay Artist Magazine. What attracts her to this medium is that she can sketch her ideas and produce them exactly as envisioned, with glass this same concept is hit or miss for her. Rebecca lives in Austin with her smoking hot fiancé, Michael, loves cacti, sushi and the color red and is working on leaving a legacy of being a loyal friend, respected professional, total dork and badass art chick. You can find her art online at www.rchotglass.com.

Class Description:

“Oh, I love that necklace/earrings/cuff/keychain!” they will say.

“Thanks, I MADE IT at Lucky Star Art Camp!,” you will say.

In the Precious Metal Clay Pendant class you will make your own fine silver pendants and turn them into wearable works of art. If you can play with clay and roll out cookie dough, YOU CAN master this medium. Your piece will start off as clay (PMC), full of fine silver particles. Once dry, we will kiln fire it and all of the clay will burn off and only .999 fine silver will be left. We will take the fine silver pieces you make and finish them. You will leave the class with a knowledge of how to work with PMC and with your finished pieces ready to wear. Fun guaranteed!
