Class Descripton
Learn to create beautiful textile art using the Shibori technique and natural indigo dye!
In our class, we will learn how to create unique effects in fabric by pleating, folding, and scrunching our fabric to form a textile resist. I will teach you how to create a live vat of indigo dye and how to use it to dye your fabric. Once our pieces are ready, we will unravel our bundled fabric to reveal your work!
Students will be provided with two cotton textiles to dye, but are encouraged to bring more items to play with (we have enough time for plenty of projects). Undyed natural fibers like cotton, silk, and wool work best. Ideas on what to bring include clothes, napkins, dishtowels, baby blankets, pillowcases, etc.
Materials to Bring

That includes two large vats, dye, and all the equipment and materials needed to create our dye bath, twine, resist shapes, clamps, weights, pipe segments, stir sticks, drying racks and clotheslines, tongs, water buckets, and two textiles per student.
