Class Descripton
Vintage and old family photos have a way of connecting us to nostalgic moments of the past. So enchanting are the old photos that show generations past posing in favorite locales, holding their pets, enjoying their vacation spots or just simply all dressed in their Sunday best. In “Ancestry Embroidery”, we will learn how to add lots of fun and kitschy embroidery stitches to your vintage photographs. You will leave with a framed piece of wall art that will be sure to get people asking about the story behind your unique piece.
Materials to Bring
- Bring a pair of small scissors!
- Optional: Additional thread colors, beads, or additional embellishments you may want to use on your piece.
- Photo Choice 1) Bring a vintage photo that you love. If you do not want to alter the original photograph, please bring a copy of it either on photo paper or cardstock. The paper you use should not be too thin that it will rip, but not too thick that you can’t get a needle through it.
- Photo Choice 2) Choose a Vintage Photo from Instructor’s curated collection at class ($3-5 per photo)
- The Ancestry Embroidery Kit includes all of the supplies needed to complete the project except for the photo!
Kit Fee includes
- 8” embroidery hoop
- A linen/cotton fabric square
- Choice of 3-6 colors of DMC embroidery threads
- 2 needles
- Printed guide to "Ancestry Embroidery"
- Use of pencils, pens, and fabric pencils.
