Class Descripton
In this workshop, we will take a contemporary approach to marbling and create unique surface designs on fabric! Marbling is an art process with a long history and roots in many different countries. It involves floating paints on a liquid surface and using tools and the natural flow of the materials to create beautiful designs that can be printed on paper or fabric. You’ll have free reign of your own large marbling vat to play with color and pattern! We’ll learn some basic marbling patterns using a stylus and combs and practice these on pieces of cotton fabric that you can use for various sewing projects or hang on your wall as a small art tapestry. Then we’ll get to marble some special items to create funky wearables! Choose from a cotton or silk bandana, a hat, or a zip pouch, and create a one-of-a-kind piece that will become the coolest thing in your closet.
