Welcome to Welding Workshop: Garden Ornament Edition!
In this hands-on beginner class, you’ll be introduced to the basics of welding—what I like to call the art of “gluing metal together.” No experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome!
We’ll start with a quick introduction to the tools and techniques of welding. Each student will practice welding on a small piece of metal to get a feel for how the equipment works and build confidence with the process.
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, you’ll get 10 feet of small round metal to create a beautiful piece for your garden. The Garden stakes can be short or long and if you have extra metal left you can make a second ornament. I’ll guide you step by step through creating your chosen piece and will provide ideas if you are completely stumped.
By the end of the class, you’ll head home with your first welded metal plate and a custom-made garden ornament—perfect for decorating your garden or plants.
Come ready to spark creativity, try something new, and leave with a little metal magic you made yourself!
Supply Fee Includes
- Welder and all consumables (wire, gas)
- Tools
- Protective gear (safety glasses, welding helmet, gloves, welding jacket)
- Metal to weld together to create your ornaments
Supplies to Bring from Home
- For this class, I will be providing all of the materials. However, to participate in my class you must wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Jeans are preferred. Welding jackets will be provided. Clothes that you do not love are advised. Safety is a priority, so you cannot participate if you do not follow these clothing guidelines.
