Jennifer Mercede is a Portland, Oregon artist known for her wildly colorful, spontaneous approach to painting and drawing. Her work combines bright color, loose lines, funky doodles, text, pattern and plenty of playful imperfection. Jennifer describes her style as a meeting of street art, toddler art and fine art, with inspiration coming from children’s art, graffiti, abstract expressionism and unexpected color combinations.
Jennifer has created everything from tiny paintings to large scale murals, taught both children and adults, collaborated with brands including KEEN, and completed an artist residency in Hong Kong where she worked with hundreds of students. Her favorite part of teaching is helping people loosen up, take creative risks and discover the joy that comes when they stop worrying about doing art “right.”
